TRAIL TIPS!

This hike follows trail #216 rather than going along the switchback of the Windsor Trail.  Though the signs say this cutoff trail is not maintained, it is in relatively good shape.  The trail along Windsor Creek (#216) saves a couple of miles.

About this hike:

This trail takes you along Windsor Creek to a beautiful alpine lake, Stewart Lake.  There is another trail description for Stewart Lake in NMHikes, however this one is a few miles shorter.  If you are backpacking, there are several campsites below Stewart Lake and some campsites along Windsor Creek on the way.  Remember to stay 200 feet away from streams or lakes!  The trail runs along the north-facing slope, so you will be on the shaded side of the valley during your ascent.
