Gooseberry Springs is very pleasant as it presents both beautiful wooded areas and sunny mountain slopes. The trail never seems to get unreasonably steep and is clear and easy to follow.
Once the trail leads out of the woods, the view looking back (southward) are most lovely. As with any mountain hike, it is important to be prepared for rapid weather changes. As expected, the views from the summit (11,300 ft) are spectacular. Note that at this altitude, it can get windy.
